is an American Craftswoman immersed in the art and function of American porcelain ceramics and thematic mask sculpture.

 

Claire has spent decades exploring glaze chemistry and researching natural, dug glazes from Canada, Mexico and the United States. Her highly technical chemical development champions ancient European and Asian lacquer crackleware practices on American porcelain. Claire uses traditional and invented production and sculpture techniques to create timeless one-of-a-kind functional ware, extraordinary forms, and thematic masks. Ancient and modern firing techniques include raku, smoking and high-fire electric.

 

Claire's current work is created in her upstate New York studio, where she also invites college students to study for college credit.

 

Former positions include: Director of Earthworks and Artisans (New York City), Creator Program and instructor of Ceramics (Barnard College, NYC), Head of Ceramics (Trevor Day School High School division (NYC), and as a teacher in various high school programs in New York City and New Jersey.

 

Private collections of Claire's work are held in Japan, the United States of America, and Austria. Her work is sold in museum stores and galleries across the globe.
